Applications are invited from graduates, or equivalent with relevant experience, for a fixed-term post covering a period of parental leave up to the end of July 2017.  The post will report to the Pre-Award Manager and will be part of the Pre-Award team, which provides support for all externally funded research applications and awards.

Although based in the Pre-Award team, the post-holder will also be expected to work closely with the Research Development Managers within the Research Grants Development team.  The post-holder will help to develop and coordinate research funding bids; will provide advice to academic researchers on University and specific funders’ policies and procedures; review, process and submit research proposals; and check and process research awards.

This research is based around large and small animal studies and human volunteer studies in Edinburgh and patient/community studies in Edinburgh & Sri Lanka/Bangladesh. The post holder will have delegated responsibility for financial administration, budgeting, human resources requirements and supervision of the Principal Investigators' research programme.

The Royal Central School of Speech and Drama is looking for an experienced professional to track, evaluate and report on the impact of its world-leading teaching, knowledge exchange and research internationally. You will have knowledge and experience of working with impact data and statistics in relation to reporting and audit criteria, KPIs and metrics, and be able to collaborate with senior executive and academic staff to prepare case studies and institutional narratives for funding bodies, government agencies and public relations purposes.

You will play a leading role in preparing data-based narratives on excellence and value for money for the Higher Education Business and Community Interaction survey, Teaching Excellence Framework, Research Excellence Framework and other key institutional audits and reviews. Job Details

The main foci of the roles will be working with colleagues to identify impact, ensure that appropriate evidence is obtained and stored, identify creative ways to maximise impact and engage with existing and potential end-users of our research.

Applicants should understand the REF, and in particular what 'impact' means in a REF context, have very strong communication and interpersonal skills, and be able to work with, motivate and co-ordinate the activities of colleagues across the University who are working directly or indirectly on the impact agenda.
