About ARMA's Members

Who are ARMA's Members?

ARMA has nearly 2,700 individual members. The membership represents over 250 institutions and organisations from across 25 countries. These include members from universities, funding bodies, the NHS, independent research centres and other public and voluntary sector bodies in the research sector. The university sector is the largest, with around 70% of members in pre-1992 universities and around 28% in post-1992 universities. Others work for policy makers, local government and organisations supporting public sector research.

Within their organisations, our members work in central offices supporting and managing research across the organisation, as well as in research centres and departments alongside researchers. Those members who work in central offices often cover a range of research disciplines (except those in specialist institutions), whereas those working alongside researchers are more likely to specialise in a particular area.
