This workshop is being delivered by ARMA as part of the FOSTER initiative to enhance understanding of and compliance with Open Access regulation.
The workshop is fully funded by FOSTER and 25 free places are available to ARMA members.
The four national Funding Councils have introduced an ‘open access’ requirement into next Research Excellence Framework. This means that researchers must have uploaded their research outputs to an institutional or subject-based repository in order to be eligible for the REF. This provides challenges for research managers and administrators in terms of infrastructure, resources and culture change.
By the end of the workshop, participants will:
- Know about tools and resources that exist to help research managers and administrators ensure that publications and internal processes are compliant with funders’ policies.
- Understand how research organisations are performing and how are they embedding a culture of Open Access within their institutions
- Have heard practical examples of how universities are implementing open access
- Have had the opportunity to share their own experience and learn from others, strategies for implementing open access
This interactive, non-technical workshop, will include speakers from RCUK and HEFCE, as well as presentations on the development of tools, infrastructure and resources which are available to support research organisations. Universities will also outline their experiences of implementing open access.
Research managers and administrators who want to find out more about how others are engaging researchers in open access, monitoring institutional/funder compliance and what tools exist to support the OA publication lifecycle.
