Expert Seminars

A recent Expert Seminar was:

ARMA's Expert Seminars are a fundamental and long-established element of our professional development activities for research managers and administrators, which provide opportunities for members to keep up to date with developments in the field, to increase their knowledge of a specific subject and to network with other professionals. Expert Seminars are usually one-day events focusing on a single topical subject and are held at least twice a year. They are led by expert speakers, often from funding bodies or similar agencies, who talk about a policy area relevant to their roles.

For some subjects, notably the periodic Research Assessment Exercise, we offered a series of seminars addressing different aspects. We were particularly fortunate in being able to develop good relationships with RAE Managers for the 1996, 2001 and 2008 RAEs, and were delighted to offer members the opportunity to meet members of the RAE2008 team at our first seminar of 2005. Our recent seminars on the Research Excellence Framework Consultation offered guidance on the 'mechanics' of making the return and will be followed up with further workshops once the HEFCE consultation is complete.

Members are encouraged to contact Pauline Muya if they have ideas for topics for future seminars, or if they would be prepared to host a seminar at their institution.

Previous expert seminars are detailed below. Please note that you need to be logged in as a member in order to view the reports of these events.
