ARMA email lists

ARMA currently supports a number of email lists for its members, to promote discussion on topics relevant to research management and administration and for the exchange of best practice.

In an effort to reduce the number of unwanted emails, we've created several new special interest groups and another for members who wish to advertise/be informed of posts within the research sector.   We would encourage you to join the group/s of your choice and also to suggest new ones to us.

If you have a question, or if you have been given the task of researching how other research administrators deal with a particular issue, the special interest groups (SIGs) are a great way of finding out the information you need quickly and easily. ARMA members can join a SIG by:

  • logging in
  • selecting "My Subscriptions" on the "My Profiles" page
  • On the "My Mailing List Subscriptions" page, click on the box beside the list you wish to join
  • click "Apply"

Unsubscribing is simple - just follow steps 1 and 2 above, uncheck the appropriate box and click "Apply".

After joining a list/lists - post a message by addressing your email to lists@arma.ac.uk and in the Subject line type the list Tag (as it appears on the webpage, not the list name) in square brackets and then the subject (or thread) of the email, e.g.

To: lists@arma.ac.uk

Subject: [jobs] Post at X University

After posting the message you will receive a copy to confirm that it has been sent to other members of that particular list. If you make an error, the email will be returned to you with an explanation.    The system automatically picks up messages with the same thread and subject. Members can access the archive of each list from the "My Mailing List Subscription" page, provided they are logged in.

Your email address will not be revealed to other members in the SIG, so if you wish to receive messages from individuals (rather than Reply to All) then please make sure that your email address is either in the body of the message or in the footer.

All paid-up members of ARMA have automatically been added to a Members list, which will be used only for official messages from the Board and for notification of forthcoming events.  It is not possible to unsubscribe from this list.

Non members are still welcome to use the Jisc list arma@jiscmail for advertising research posts and events. This service is free of charge.  However, this list is now moderated and will no longer be used for discussion purposes.  How to join.
