About ARMA's members and the Board of Directors
ARMA has over 1600 individual members, who work in a variety of organisations, including universities, funding bodies, the NHS and independent research institutions. A more detailed profile of our members is also available.
ARMA is coordinated on a day-to-day basis by the Board of Directors, consisting of the Chair, two Deputy Chairs, Treasurer, Secretary, Director of Conference Planning and up to four other elected Directors. Members of the Board are elected by postal ballot for a three year term of office, with elections announced in January each year. Any member who is interested in standing for election, or putting themselves forward for possible co-option to the Board is welcome to contact the Chair to discuss this. Short descriptions of the roles of different Board members are available.
There are three committees, one overseeing training activities, one with oversight of broader services to members, and one charged with organising the Annual Conference. Additional Working Groups are set up to consider specific issues, as and when required. If you would be interested in being involved in this way, please contact the relevant Deputy Chair for that committee.
The Board is supported by an Advisory Group of senior staff within the sector, which provides expert advice and advance briefings on strategic and policy orientated issues of interest to the research community. Members of the Advisory Group also contribute to ARMA events, especially the annual Conference, and to publications. They are:
Professor Stuart Palmer, Deputy Vice-Chancellor, University of Warwick
Amanda Crowfoot, Director of UK Research Office (UKRO), Brussels
Jill Saunders, Head of Grants Administration, Wellcome Trust
Dr David Secher, Chief Executive, N8
Andy Wilson, Loughborough University
Gareth MacDonald, Research Councils UK
The Board of Directors is supported administratively by an Executive Administrator, Rosemary Hatch, who is our main contact for enquiries. Tel: 0845 8682127 or 01392 314671
