Louise has worked in the higher education sector for 14 years in the following HEIs: Bangor University (2007-date), Bristol University of the West of England (1996-2004) and Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine (1988-1991). She began to specialise in research support in 1996 and has held roles as a research administrator, research manager, senior principal officer, research and knowledge transfer manager and currently as Deputy College Manager.

At Bristol, UWE Louise worked in the Faculty of Education and grew the research office from one secretary to a fully functioning research support service. She was awarded a Masters studentship that enabled her to explore how educational research was disseminated and the impact it had. She then accepted a PhD studentship and researched into the changing roles of research managers and administrators. Her research interests continue to be based around change in the higher education sector, change in the research manager's field, and gender. Louise has presented her research findings at both academic and professional conferences with the aim of increasing links between academic research into HE and managerial practices in HE organisations.

Her current role as Deputy College Manager, College of Health and Behavioural Sciences, Bangor University focuses on forging collaborative research links and facilitating research support services across a number of Schools and Institutes. Louise works with the Research Deputy Head of College and College Manager on matters of strategy implementation with regards to research, knowledge transfer and third mission, risk management and compliancy, administrative systems and communications.

Louise became a director of the Association of Research Managers and Administrators in August 2010.
