Jill has been the Head of the University Research Office (URO) at Newcastle University, since November 2005. The URO is one of eight teams based in Research and Enterprise Services (RES). Jill leads a team responsible for providing professional pre-award support to the University in developing and implementing research strategies and policies alongside the efficient management of research grants and contracts and she co-ordinated the University’s submission to the RAE 2008. Her main priority at present is the development of the MyImpact integrated research management system, which will support the next REF submission.
Jill has worked in the HE sector since 1993, holding a variety of positions at the University of Northumbria, before moving to the Postgraduate Institute for Medicine and Dentistry at Newcastle in 1998, swiftly followed by a period as Faculty Registrar for Education and then as the School of Education, Communication and Language Sciences Manager immediately before her current role. She is passionate about training both in her own institution and as part of the wider ARMA network.
